Twelve schools in just one year: AIDA Cruise & Help launches further construction projects

Rostock, 07. February 2020

The traditional Christmas and New Year’s Eve raffle on board all AIDA ships was another great success last year. With an amazing total donation sum of 160,000 euros, AIDA guests and the crew contributed to new school construction projects initiated by AIDA Cruise & Help.
“We’d like to thank our guests and crew for so generously helping us to make access to education possible for children in emerging and developing countries,” Felix Eichhorn, President AIDA Cruises, said.
The raffle proceeds will benefit four new school construction projects realized by AIDA Cruise & Help in partnership with the Reiner Meutsch foundation FLY & HELP:
• For 400 children in the Indonesian village Banyumas, the currently dilapidated elementary school is being renovated and will receive additional classrooms and new school furniture.
• In Tarsod in India, 500 school kids will receive a clean and safe place to learn. The elementary school is being renovated and expanded by ten classrooms.
• In the district of Saptari in Nepal, two new primary schools are being built with sanitary facilities, new furniture, and teaching materials. Soon, over 60 children will be able to attend the schools in an age-appropriate setting.
Since 2019, AIDA Cruises has united its charitable projects under the umbrella initiative AIDA Cruise & Help. Through various events and donations, the cruise line has already financed the construction of twelve new schools. The first school completely financed with donations from the AIDA Cruise & Help initiative was opened in May 2019 in Cebu, Philippines.
More information on the individual projects can be found at www.aida.de/cruiseandhelp. Every donation helps: Guests can donate on board the AIDA fleet or in advance on booking the cruise via myAIDA. Those who would like to support these projects with a sum of their choice can also make donations on the AIDA Cruise & Help website.
