AIDA Cruises and the Hamburg Planetarium will cooperate exclusively in the future to ensure star-studded enjoyment on board AIDA’s ships.
The first project will commence on the maiden voyage of AIDAstella from March 17 – 28, 2013. Thomas W. Kraupe, Director of the Hamburg Planetarium, will recount celestial tales to entice AIDA guests into the world of the stars. The passengers can familiarize themselves with the infinite galaxies in fascinating presentations and workshops. During the maiden voyage, guests will be able to observe the comet Panstarrs from the deck when it is expected to shine particularly brightly in the sky in March 2013. The stars will then be read and interpreted in an astronomical teatime session. Stella – the Planetarium’s space cow – will also be on board as the star guest for younger AIDA passengers.
Further star-studded experiences are promised by the entertainment program on AIDAstella, such as the new lounge with an oversized 65-inch screen on Deck 11. Or what about a fantastic flight through space, including a landing on the moon, at the AIDA Space Night? Expeditions to the stars are also possible on shore, e.g. at the Space Expo in Amsterdam or on the former solar research vessel of Fridtjof Nansen in Oslo.
Together with the Hamburg Planetarium, AIDA will likewise present highlights from the world of the starts on board AIDAstella in the future. Those that would like to light up their own personal star can win one of three sponsorships for a star in the sky of the Hamburg Planetarium. Entry information can be found at www.aida.de/aidastella.
With a length of 253.33 meters and a beam of 32.2 meters, AIDAstella offers a huge variety of culinary delights, wellness facilities, sport and entertainment. The youngest member of the fleet has 1,097 passenger cabins, 39 of them with direct access to the generously sized wellness area with its Scandinavian design. In the Wellness Oasis with its sliding glass roof, birch trees provide for Nordic flair and a naturally relaxed atmosphere. Those who prefer some action can train on the very latest equipment free of charge in the sports area. And there are a total of 7 restaurants plus 12 bars to take guests on a fantastic journey through the world of gastronomic specialties. Guests can also get a feel for Hollywood on the “Walk of Fame” in the Shopping Mall, except here it is the stars of the oceans that are honored rather than movie or TV personalities: each of the AIDA ships is immortalized with a star.
The Hamburg Planetarium is one of the most modern planetariums in the world. It celebrated its 80th birthday in 2010, making it one of the most traditional and oldest operating planetariums in existence. More than 300,000 people go on a journey of discovery into the infinite vastness of space every year at the former water tower situated in the City Park of Hamburg. The wide-ranging program offered by the Hamburg Planetarium includes concerts, lectures, readings, theatrical productions, as well as music and laser shows.
