What happens upon receipt of my application documents?
As soon as we have received your documents, we will send you a confirmation of receipt. Your application will then be processed in the human resources department and the department you have applied for. If you prove suitable for the position, the further selection process may include interviews in person, via Skype or telephone, or an assessment center.
Can I apply for several positions simultaneously?
If your résumé qualifies you for several positions, you can send us an application with indications of your desired areas of employment.
Can I also apply on my own initiative?
If nothing suitable is currently posted for you, you are welcome to send us an unsolicited application. A short CV will be sufficient.
Does AIDA have a training program?
On land, AIDA Cruises offers training in business administration for dialog marketing (m/f). On board, we offer mechatronic engineer training (m/f), as well as Bachelor’s programs in nautical sciences, ship operation and electrical engineering. You will find additional information here.
Can I complete an internship at AIDA?
You can prove your specialized knowledge with AIDA and gather initial practical experience during 4 – 6 months of your internship on land. Whether in Marketing & Sales, Controlling & Finance, Operations, or Corporate Development – interesting projects and challenges await you. Your supervisor will also discuss the possibility of writing your final thesis at AIDA after your internship.
Do you also offer trainee programs?
Yes, we offer trainee programs as a preparation for a management career in hotel administration on board our ships. Current open trainee positions are posted on our homepage.
Are there special requirements for employment on board?
Prerequisite for employment on board is appropriate training and qualification as well as initial work experience. Moreover, all employees on board require a Fitness for Sea Service Certificate and a Police Clearance Certificate. After successful contract conclusion, employees are required to participate in several trainings to prepare them for their time on board.
Am I insured during my time on board?
EU citizens on board are comprehensively provided with social insurance according to EU guidelines (EG Nr. 883/2004) during their time of employment with AIDA.
What are my working hours on board?
We generally have a seven-day workweek, with the working hours and rest periods according to the standards and regulations of the internationally binding Maritime Labour Convention (MLC 2006).
What is the board language?
We employ an international crew on board; English language skills are therefore indispensable. The board language for interaction with our guests is German.
Which leisure time possibilities are available on board?
The crew has its own crew mess, a crew sun deck, crew sauna, fitness studio, and leisure room including crew shop. You can also watch TV and video films in German or English. All our ships have internet connection. The crew may of course take shore leave in their spare time. Employees have access to the corporate e-learning tool AIDA Expert at all times to enhance their training.
What about meals on board?
Meals and drinks are diversified and can be arranged according to taste. The meals are well-balanced and are geared towards the diverse requirements of our international crew.
How do I live on board?
The accommodations are in individual and two-bed cabins. Crew cabins are cleaned once a week. The meals and accommodation on board are free. Bed linen, towels and dryers are freely at your disposal.
