AIDA Cruises is one of the fastest growing and commercially most successful tourism businesses in Germany. As part of the Carnival Group, we are continuing this path and investing in the future: By 2023, the fleet with the smiling lips will include 16 state-of-the-art cruise ships. Diverse career fields with excellent prospects are the result. Currently, we employ around 14,000 people from over 50 nations, with 12,500 on board the twelve ships and 1,500 at our sites on shore in Rostock and Hamburg.
Our employees are the basis of our success. Identifying strengths and promoting potential is a fundamental aspect of our successful corporate philosophy. That is why we support our employees with training and further education that is specially geared toward the cruise ship industry. The courses are held on shore and at sea, at international training centers, and online. To ensure that we continue to have excellently qualified specialists and management personnel on our team, we invest in the promotion of young talents and in our employees’ career development.
We are proud, that AIDA Cruises was awarded for several times as one of the best employers in Germany. Find out more about what kind of awards we have got:
AIDA Cruises has been recognized as one of the twenty best employers in Germany by the Top Employers Institute in 2020. The international institute is renowned worldwide for its certification of outstanding people practices and, in an extensive study, annually selects the country’s Top Employers. Assessed company areas included e.g. talent strategy, training & development, career and succession planning, compensation & benefits, and the corporate culture.
Top career prospects for graduates and young professionals at AIDA – for this, we were again awarded this year with the seal “Most Attractive Tourism Employer” by trendence Institute. The independent market research and consulting company surveyed 18,000 graduates and young professionals about employers they would like to work for and their career plans.
AIDA continues to rank at the top of the industry and, in comparison to competitors, offers best prospects for a successful, professional future.
We are a member of the initiative “Fair Company” established by karriere.de, the shared portal of Handelsblatt and Wirtschaftswoche, and have committed ourselves to fair treatment of interns, students, and university graduates. In addition to adequate payment, the initiative promotes, for example, only offering internships to students – and not graduates. Since 2010, we have held the quality seal “Fair Company.”
AIDA adheres to the highest standards in training as well. This commitment was honored for the third time in a row with the title of Top Training Company 2017 by the Rostock Chamber of Industry and Commerce. This title was given to the AIDA Customer Center.
In the fall of 2007, the general assembly of the Rostock Chamber of Industry and Commerce established the award “TOP Training Company” in recognition of company training that goes beyond what is required by law and demonstrates commitment in the areas of career orientation, professional training, and specialist training.
For the second time, the business magazine Capital, the talent platform Ausbildung.de, and Territory Embrace have recognized “Germany’s Top Training Companies.” The cruise line AIDA Cruises triumphed in the area of dual study programs and vocational training. This makes AIDA one of the 500 best training companies in Germany.
For years, AIDA has been setting the highest training standards and is committed to the individual promotion of young talents. On August 1, 2018, eight newcomers began their three-year vocational training at AIDA Cruises and the AIDA Customer Center in Rostock. The future sales assistants in tourism management, event management and office management have already completed their one-month orientation and training phase, referred to as “onboarding,” and are now working in their first departments. Two business administration students in the dual study program started their work on October 1, 2018. Currently, 16 trainees and 5 dual students are receiving training at AIDA Cruises and the AIDA Customer Center.
